A/N: Alright, so, this ignores the whole Titanic-crashing-through-Tardis bit, but otherwise is attempting to stick to canon. Kay? Kay. And off we go.
The sound of the Tardis materializing in the corridor went unnoticed by the hundreds of Weevil's held within the Hub. The sound echoed through the cells, along the cold, damp corridor, and finally found itself swirling around Jack's office. Interestingly enough, Jack himself was not in the office, he was in the cells, and the sound that should have gone 'unnoticed' by the Weevil's actually didn't. Which, unfortunately for Jack, set them all to screaming, very loudly, until the sound quieted.
Needless to say, it was a slightly irritated Jack that the Doctor exited the Tardis to find. Glaring at him, actually, which the Doctor didn't quite understand, as the screaming had died down by the time he managed to get the door open.
"What's that face for, then? I've not come early have I? That's the trouble with time machine's, you think you've got all the time in the world, but really, you never quite know if you're going to end up on time. And you lot all think I've got something to do with it, as if its easy to-"
"You're rambling." Jack interrupted smoothly. "And we did all that reunion, end of the universe stuff already, if that's what you mean by early."
"Exactly." The Doctor said, pointing at Jack.
"So what do you want?"
"What? I'm not allowed to check up on my friends? See how they're doing? See if-"
"You're the Doctor. You don't do that sort of thing. What do you want?"
"Did you find another souvenir? 'Doctor Detector'? Something that won't be a danger to me if someone evil gets their hands on-"
"<i>Doctor.</i>"
"Martha left me." He said bluntly, staring at Jack.
"Oh."
"Yeah, oh. Said something about, not noticing her, or some such." He shrugged. "I was hoping you might change your mind. Come with me."
"I can't. I've got. . ." He waved his arms around, to indicate the city.
"What? Creatures in cages?" A Weevil slammed itself against the side of its cell. "Ooh, nasty things, aren't they? But, really, what do you have to stay for? Your team? Surely they can do without you. They went to the Himalaya's without you, after all."
"Yes, and they'll be getting a talking to as soon as they get back. I'm sorry, Doc."
The Doctor sighed. "Yes, I'd figured you'd say that. Ah, well. Goodbye, then." He turned on his heel and stepped back into the Tardis. The Weevil's screamed again, as the Tardis dematerialized. Covering his ears, Jack made his way toward the stairs. The sound had only just died out when the Tardis materialized once again, setting them off all over and setting Jack's teeth on edge.
"What now?" He ground plaintively when the Doctor stepped out.
"I was wondering if you wanted to get those two years of your life back?"
"You said - the other you said you - he - couldn't." Jack asked in confusion.
"Well, I couldn't, then. Would have killed you dead, didn't want that. But now, you can't die, so really, not much a deterrent anymore."
"Right. . ." Jack said slowly. "Alright. Do it."
"You're sure?"
"I'm sure."
"You're not going to hit me for it later?"
"Oh, honestly, Doctor. If you're going to do it, then do it. If you're not, then leave. I don't have time for this."
"Yes, you do. You've got plenty of time to kill before your team get back. Not really very smart, are they, taking a bus?"
Jack shook his head. "Are you done?"
"Yeah, think so. Ready?"
Jack glared at him.
"Alright, alright." The Doctor said, positioning his fingers across the sides of Jack's face. "This might hurt a bit." He pressed until he could feel Jack's heartbeat and began to work.
