Metaphor For Eden A garden of brilliant blue hyacinths The gentle gurgle of the crystal clear stream Golden fruit whispers in harmony With the contented sounds of the birds A silver web sparkles in the distance between Across the line in the center of the street Where nothing but the web itself exists To keep the sides apart On the other side of the web the water is black Foul and toxic in the lagoon Under the murky depths lives the beast Screaming eternally of anguish and hate Looking hungrily at the fruit and wishing To cross the web But the web separates the evil from the good Keeping the beast from the heart So he cannot devour the fruit, and with it the heart The web has always protected the garden Except the one time it forgot
