First there was the multiverse, in all its glory, held together by an Entity of unknown size and intelligence. And The Entity grew, as it always had, and as it grew, the universes expanded. New species were born each day, and old species advanced to previously unheard of heights. It was in this way that the Lilithantii, of the planet Thantii, circling the star Tharish'Ka, began to Transcend. They grew as The Entity did, toward those unimaginable heights, and became something above ordinary life, yet below The Entity. There was another species growing, a chaotic, spiteful race, the Ja-Eni, reaching toward the Lilithantii heights, but always falling short, just a step below them, and a step above the others.
Then, the unthinkable happened. The Entity died, and all the bonds holding the multiverse together were shattered. The Strings of the universes became Tangled, colliding and spinning, and completely out of control, all the old species dying, and the new species halted, frozen in time and evolution, but no all destroyed. The Lilithantii fled their home into the Non-Spacial plane, the place between the Strings, where no time passed, nor were they touched by any of the destruction. Their numbers stayed the same, as the multiverse burned, but the collisions caused Ripples to spread through the Non-Spacial plane. The Ripples were harmless to the Lilithantii, if distracting, and they finally became weary of them and set out to mend the Tangle.
They spent many patient millenia building the Spindle, a machine to take the place of The Entity, and making it work, and finally it did. But the Lilithantii had forgotten the Ja-Eni, who had half-way followed them into the Non-Spacial plane at the moment of the Cataclysm, and slid out again into the chaos, thriving on the burning of the universes. As the Spindle became operational, the Ja-Eni attacked, and the skirmishes quickly degenerated into all-out war, the Six Centuries War, that ended with Lilithanii victory and Ja-Eni retreat.
While the war raged, the Spindle was left unsupervised, and bits of it began to spill over, forming the IdeaWell, a part of thoughts and knowledge with winds and weather pouring from the universes. But with the war over, the Lilithantii stopped up the spill-over, leaving the IdeaWell a puddle of nothing and no place that could only be accessed through thought. They left it, seeing no purpose for it, and set up an observatory in the Spindle, where they could watch the goings on of the universes. They began Seeding life in many universes, always careful to avoid universes populated by the unevolved remnants of the Cataclysm. The Ja-Eni had no such qualms, and quickly gained more land and species. But there were few Lilithanitii and the continued, prolonged exposure to the Riplles had caused the Lilithantii to be sterile. Their numbers having dwindled during the war, they set about creating a species that would be able to Transcend to their level, given enough time. They did, finally Seed two luch species, the Nuir and the Ritin'vala, just before the Ja-Eni attacked again. There was nothing the Lilithantii could do but fight back or be destroyed, so most of those that remained went to the Non-Temporal plane, to fight the Ja-Eni. Those that remained stayed close to the Spoindle, tending to the damage done to the multiverse and attempting to keep it, and the people within it as safe as possible. It was during this time that the First Transcendants actually Transcended and were sent to the Non-Temporal plane.
It wasn't long before the Lilithantii discovered that the Ja-Eni could not reach the IdeaWell, and with that in mind they formed the Bubble, a maulable piece of almost space-time that floated through the IdeaWell like an island. Using the Template of the First Transcendants, they Seeded the Aenarene in the center of the bubble and the Oressans on the surface, then retreated back to the Spindle to watch and subtly guide universe, and to subvert Ja-Eni influence where they could.
