First there was the multiverse, in all its glory, held together by an Entity of unknown size and intelligence. And The Entity grew, as it always had, and as it grew, the universes expanded. New species were born each day, and old species advanced to previously unheard of heights. It was in this way that the Ja-Eni, born of the planet Ja'ne'Enn, circling the star Kkathai, began to grow. They grew as The Entity did, toward those unimaginable heights, and became something just a step above ordinary life, and just a step below The Entity. They were a chaotic race, less pure than others by far, but they fought for what they wanted, and what they wanted was to rise above the other races. There was another species growing, fast than the Ja-Eni, a purer, calmer race, the Lilithantii, who stayed just one step ahead of the Ja-Eni regardless of how hard they worked.
Then, the unthinkable happened. The Entity died, and all the bonds holding the multiverse together were shattered. The Strings of the universes became Tangled, colliding and spinning, and completely out of control, all the old species dying, and the new species halted, frozen in time and evolution, but no all destroyed. The Lilithantii fled to the Non-Spacial plane, the place between the Strings where they would remain untouched by the destruction, and the Ja-Eni attempted to follow, but like everything else, they fell just short of the line. The Ja-Eni slid out of the Non-Spacial plane into the chaos of the universe, and grew to thrive on the burning of the universes. But they had forgotten about the Lilithantii, eternal do-gooders that they were, who build a machine to take place of The Entity. Angrily, the Ja-Eni struck out, their lives have been uprooted and turned around by the sudden loss of chaos. It was amazing how quickly the little raids became an all out war, the Six Centuries war, which, as in all things, the Ja-Eni lost, retreating.
In the time after the war, the Ja-Eni did their best to spread as quickly as they could. They took no notice of life resuming its natural course in universes, Seeding their own species four for every one the Lilithantii did, and setting up their own colonies as well. It seemed they were lucky, their stay in the Non-Spacial plane had rendered the Lilithantii incapable of reproduction. The Ja-Eni assumed that, eventually, those remaining Lilithantii would die out, or be killed, and they could them disasseble the Spindle and begin a new Cataclysm.
Something terrible happened then, the Lilithantii Seeded a species capable of Transcending and becoming Lilithantii, artificial reproduction. So, thinking they should strike while there were still few in number, the Ja-Eni attacked, bringing the fighting to the Non-Temporal plane, which they called the Battlefield. But the Lilithantii were harder to kill than memory recalled, and the fighting lasted much longer than expected. The Transcendants actually Transcended and joined the fight, and it became a sort of a stalemate, most of the actual victories happening between the species the two had Seeded.
